HAMCO Rolls Out Gold Star Program to C-Store Market Rewarding Pay-at-the-Pump Customer Loyalty Deemed Key to Increased In-Store Traffic
Newton, NC – HAMCO Manufacturing and Distributing, LLC, based in Newton, NC, will be nationally introducing its HAMCO Gold Star POS Rolls program at the NACS Show in Las Vegas, NV, October 20-23,2009. The program is currently being rolled out through HAMCO’s national sales and distribution network on a targeted basis in the Southeast, Northeast, Mid South and Mid Atlantic regions.
According to Sales Manager, Steve Fredericks, the HAMCO Gold Star Program is the result of extensive research including feedback from convenience store operators across the country. “We were hearing more and more complaints about business inside stores dropping off because people had begun to consistently use credit or debit cards at the pump and were no longer coming into the store for the more profitable impulse buys,” stated Fredericks. “We saw this as an opportunity to develop a product
that did more than just fulfill a supply order, but also helped solve a marketing and promotion challenge.”
Taking the challenge back to the manufacturing engineers at HAMCO, Fredericks and the team of engineers recalled the applications of the red star rolls that were used 30 years ago for in-store security.
From this thought process, the Gold Star rolls were born to focus on in-store traffic generation and customer appreciation incentives.
“This not only encourages repeat business at the pump and in-store traffic, but is also an inexpensive customer appreciation program,” explained Fredericks. “Once the customer is in the store, the ‘convenience factor’ kicks in as they purchase other items to compliment the free item. “
Available in four different sizes according to POS gas pump requirements, the thermal rolls are imprinted with a Gold Star every ten feet simply stating, “YOU ARE A WINNER! The Gold Star POS Rolls come twelve or twenty-four in a standard case order, with the Gold Star imprint repeating every ten feet. Each case includes two cleaning cards, which are a value-added item used on the debit and credit card magnetic strip readers to help eliminate most reading errors, reducing costly maintenance calls. Ranging in lengths of 185 feet to 435 feet, sizes include roll widths of 2-1/4” and 2-5/16”. Custom orders of 50 cases or more can vary in quantities per case and frequency of the Gold Star repeat pattern on the roll.
